Premium shredded pine needles range from 2 to 5 in length. Premium shredded pine needles are used to maintain soil temperature and to reduce evaporation of the soil's moisture. Premium shredded pine straw is our Longleaf pine straw that has been shredded so that the straw can be used in smaller areas with plants. The shorter the pine needle, the more moisture that will be locked into the soil. The longer the pine needle, the more air that is allowed to move between the ground and the outer surrounding areas. Premium shredded pine needles lock in a lot of moisture and have a very good look to them. Premium shredded pine needles are used for a decorative purpose.
